To Ian Bremmer: Trumpation—A New Paradigm for Economic Transition

Introducing Trumpation, a concept framing the transitional dynamics of transactionalism.

Dear Mr. Bremmer,

I hope this message finds you deep in one of your incisive reflections on the evolving global landscape. Your ability to articulate the rise of transactionalism as a defining force in our era has often left me pondering: What are we transitioning toward?

That question led me to a concept I call Trumpation.

At its core, Trumpation captures the transitionary chaos left in the wake of transactionalism. It reflects the turbulent, unpredictable process of recalibrating global systems, where old paradigms are disrupted, and new dynamics take shape. Unlike traditional concepts like inflation or stagflation, Trumpation offers a name to a yet unfolding  economic state—and the unprecedented force about to redefine time-honored systems, alliances, and even identities through disruption.

In Trumpation, volatility becomes more than disorder—it’s a crucible for adaptation and innovation. Through new vantage points and tools as you have pointed out like advanced AI, we may begin to uncover patterns and possibilities hidden in the turbulence. What might appear as fragmentation or instability today could, in hindsight, be the foundation for systems that are more resilient, adaptive, and attuned to a dynamic global reality.

Trumpation challenges us to rethink the narratives of crisis. It invites us to see the cracks in old structures not as failures, but as doorways to a future we can’t yet fully imagine.

I imagine you already see elements of this unfolding in the trends you analyze, and I humbly offer Trumpation as a lens to articulate this chaotic yet generative transition. If this concept resonates, I’ve shared a fuller exploration on my Letters of Manifestinction page. You’ll find it here:

Thank you for your time and for continuing to guide us in making sense of these transformative times.
